From the Commodore

Welcome to the RVMYC website. As you navigate around our site you’ll find a wealth of information, whether you’re a current member, a potential member or a visitor just looking for information.

As the pre-eminent motor yacht club on Port Phillip, we enjoy an active boating and social calendar. We are blessed with magnificent clubrooms, located just 9km from Melbourne’s CBD in the historic seaside town of Williamstown and our 300+ members come from all walks of life.

While obviously, we are first and foremost a boating club, you certainly do not need to own a boat to be a member and with our various member categories, including family membership, we have much to offer potential members.

I look forward to seeing current members around the club and if you’re a potential member, call in and check us out soon.

The RVMYC was originally called The Victorian Launch Club and was founded in 1904, the name later being changed to The Victorian Motor Boat Club.

The club met for many years at the Port Phillip Club Hotel, until new premises were acquired at a site near the current Ferry Terminal at Princes Bridge Wharf.

By 1937 the Club was formally given permission to use the prefix 'Royal' for services rendered.

The club is made up of boating enthusiasts whether they cruise, race in NavRallys or enjoy the water, we have a strong social culture and a commitment to the local boating community.

With over 300 members, the club has many boat owners, ranging from small timber classics to larger vessels. Guests are always welcome to join in with members on scheduled social boating events.

Perched on the waters edge in Williamstown, the club has expansive views of Melbourne, if you are a kindred club member, book a temporary berth or just come and enjoy a meal or drink in our clubhouse and then explore the historical port of Williamstown.

The Members Bar is open to club members, their guests and kindred club members only. Members are asked to book in the bistro early to avoid disappointment.
