About Us

Events

The Club was first called the Victorian Launch Club founded in 1904, this was later changed to the Victorian Motor Boat Club.

The club met for many years at the Port Phillip Club Hotel, until new premises were acquired at a site near the current Ferry Terminal at Princes Bridge Wharf.

By 1937 the Club was formally given permission to use the prefix 'Royal' for services rendered.

The club is made up of boating enthusiasts whether they cruise, race in NavRallys or enjoy the water, we have a strong social culture and a commitment to the local boating community.

We currently have 250 members, some of which own their own boats, but, its not a condition of membership. If you're interested in boating and want to see more of the bay then you are welcome to join in with members on out scheduled social boating events.

Boating activities include cruising, NavRallys, social, community & charity events.  The club has expansive views of Melbourne, book
a temporary berth or just come and enjoy a meal or drink in our clubhouse and then explore the historical port of Williamstown.

A boating events calendar is now published for the 2013-14 season, which include social and sporting events.

Opening Day - Saturday 4 October 2014

Our first function in the new clubhouse is set for Opening Day on the 4th of October. We have secured the honour of having Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO (Ret’d) to officiate this years opening of boating activities.

The club is also lucky to have Peter Cupples provide entertainment for our Opening Day on 4 October.

Peter first came into prominence in 1975 as lead singer and songwriter for the blue-eyed soul band, Stylus. Stylus released four albums, which included such hits as, ‘Summer Breeze’, ‘World of Make Believe’, ‘So Much Love’ and ‘Work Out Fine’ to name a few. Stylus became the first ‘all white band’ to be signed by the U.S. company, Tamala Motown and had moderate success internationally under the Motown label.

Peter has played at many main events, but for him, none were bigger than when he opened for Frank Sinatra at Sanctuary Cove.

Lets hope the RVMYC will be just as memorable for him.
